the way eyes catch
and snag
and tear
and leave me looking
for somewhere else
to look
to stare
yes, I still remember
how could I forget?
those eyes
they're still across the table
where I sit
I can't pretend
not to notice
not to see
the way eyes catch
and tear
and leave me
blinking
shrinking into myself
